creator.

The short version

  • You cannot turn on creator mode anymore. LinkedIn removed the on/off toggle in March 2024, so the switch older guides tell you to find no longer exists.
  • The tools creator mode used to bundle were unbundled. The Follow-first button, creator analytics, and eligibility for newsletters and LinkedIn Live are now handled separately.
  • If you wanted the big Follow button, set Follow as your primary profile action in Settings under Visibility. That is the piece most people were actually after.
  • Access to sharing tools like LinkedIn Live, Audio Events, and newsletters depends on meeting LinkedIn's criteria, not on flipping a single mode on.
  • Chasing a mode is the wrong frame now. Decide feature by feature what you want on, because that is how LinkedIn ships them today.

If you came here to flip on creator mode and every older guide points you to a toggle in the Resources section of your profile, save yourself the hunt. That toggle is gone.

LinkedIn removed the creator mode on/off switch in March 2024. So the honest answer to "how to turn on creator mode" is that there is no longer a mode to turn on. The good news is that what you actually wanted, whether that was the Follow button, the analytics, or access to features like newsletters, still exists. It just lives in different places now. Here is how to get each piece.

First, the part nobody tells you: there is no switch

Creator mode used to be a bundle. Turn it on and you got a Follow button as your default action, a couple of creator fields near the top of your profile, a set of analytics, and a path to features like LinkedIn Live and newsletters. Turn it off and all of it reverted together.

According to LinkedIn's own help page, that toggle was removed in March 2024, alongside other profile changes like the default Connect button switching to Follow for many members. The features did not vanish. They were separated so LinkedIn could give each one to the right people directly, rather than gating everything behind a single mode you had to opt into.

So the task changed. Instead of turning on a mode, you now decide, feature by feature, what you want.

What else changed at the same time

The toggle did not disappear on its own. It was part of a wider profile update, so if your profile looks different from what old screenshots show, this is why. Around the same window, LinkedIn removed the profile hashtags and topics that creator mode used to display near the top, moved the About section higher up the page, and switched the default profile button from Connect to Follow for many members.

The practical takeaway is that a lot of guides written before 2024 describe a profile that no longer exists. If a tutorial tells you to look for a creator mode section, a topics field, or an on/off switch in Resources, it is out of date. The controls that matter now live in Settings, not on a single mode. Knowing that saves you the frustration of hunting for menus that were retired.

If you wanted the Follow button

For most people, "turn on creator mode" really meant "make the big button on my profile say Follow instead of Connect." That is the most visible thing the mode ever did, and it is still fully in your control.

Open Settings and Privacy, go to the Visibility section, and find your follow or follower settings. There you can set Follow as the primary action on your profile, with Connect tucked behind it. This nudges strangers toward following your content rather than sending a connection request, which is what you want if your goal is an audience rather than a mutual network.

LinkedIn moves and renames these menus more often than anyone would like, so if a label does not match what you see, its help center has the current path. The setting itself has not gone anywhere.

If you wanted the analytics and reach

Creator mode used to be the gate for post analytics and the sense that LinkedIn was treating you as a creator. That gate is gone in a good way: the analytics on how your posts perform are now available broadly, not locked behind a mode. You do not need to enable anything special to see how a post did.

Reach itself was never something creator mode granted. It comes from relevance and engagement, the same mechanics we break down in how the LinkedIn algorithm works. Flipping a button never changed that, and its removal does not either. If your aim is a bigger audience, the levers are your content and your consistency, which we cover in increasing LinkedIn followers.

If you wanted LinkedIn Live, newsletters, or Audio

These sharing tools are the one area where access is still conditional. LinkedIn makes them available to members who meet its criteria, which can include having an authentic, reasonably complete profile and some track record on the platform. Meeting those bars matters more now than any toggle, so a profile worth taking seriously is the real prerequisite. If yours needs work, start with our LinkedIn profile best practices.

When you qualify, the tool simply appears in your posting options. There is no mode to enable first. If it is not there yet, the honest answer is that you likely have not met the criteria, and no setting will force it.

The mindset shift

The old question was binary: is creator mode on or off. The new reality is a menu. You pick the Follow button or not. You use analytics that are already on. You gain sharing tools as you qualify. That is more flexible, even if it makes the old guides wrong.

If you got here because you were leaning toward the other direction and want Connect back as your default, we wrote the mirror image of this, how to turn off creator mode, which walks through switching the button back.

We build Commenti, a commenting tool for LinkedIn, so we watch a lot of people try to grow here. The pattern is consistent: the button and the mode were never the growth lever people hoped. Showing up in feeds and comment sections is. The settings above just make sure your profile presents the way you want once your work brings people to it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn on creator mode on LinkedIn?

You cannot, because LinkedIn removed the creator mode on/off toggle in March 2024. There is no single switch to flip anymore. The features it used to enable were separated out. To get what people usually wanted, set your profile button to Follow in Settings under Visibility, and access sharing tools individually as you qualify.

Why is there no creator mode toggle on my profile?

LinkedIn removed it in March 2024 as part of a broader profile change that also switched the default Connect button to Follow for many members and moved the About section higher. The toggle disappeared, but the underlying tools did not. They were unbundled and handed to qualifying members directly rather than gated behind one mode.

How do I get the Follow button instead of Connect?

Open Settings and Privacy, go to the Visibility section, find your follow or follower settings, and set Follow as the primary action on your profile. That gives you the most visible effect creator mode used to provide. LinkedIn renames these menus sometimes, so check its help center if a label does not match.

Can everyone use LinkedIn Live and newsletters now?

Not automatically. Sharing tools like LinkedIn Live, Audio Events, and newsletters are available to members who meet LinkedIn's access criteria, which can include factors like an authentic, complete profile and a track record on the platform. They are no longer bundled behind a creator mode toggle, but they are also not on for everyone by default.
