How to Hide Posts on LinkedIn (Feed, Yours, and Others)
How to hide posts on LinkedIn: hide a post from your feed, mute a person, and the honest truth about whether you can hide your own posts without deleting them.

The short version
- To hide a single post in your feed, tap the three dots on the post and choose Hide, which removes it and teaches the feed to show you fewer like it.
- To stop seeing everything from one person without unfriending them, use Unfollow, which keeps the connection but hides their posts from your feed.
- You cannot truly hide your own published post from everyone while keeping it live, since a post is either visible to its chosen audience or deleted.
- You can control who sees your own post before you publish it by setting the audience to Anyone, Connections only, or a specific group.
- Hiding a post in your feed is private, so the person who posted it is never notified that you hid or unfollowed them.
Can you hide your own posts?
This is the one people most often get wrong, so we will be direct: you cannot hide your own published post from everyone while keeping it live. LinkedIn has no setting that says "keep this post but make it invisible." A post is either visible to the audience you chose, or it is gone.
That leaves two realistic paths. The first is to delete the post, which removes it for everyone. The second is to think about visibility before you publish, which is where you actually have control. When you write a post, LinkedIn lets you pick who can see it: Anyone, Connections only, or in some cases a narrower group. Choosing Connections only keeps a post off the public web and out of strangers' feeds. That choice is separate from your overall profile visibility, which we walk through in how to make your LinkedIn profile publicly visible.
If your real aim is to pull a live post out of sight, deleting is the only sure move. And unlike editing, deleting is permanent, so it is worth being certain first. Editing, by contrast, only changes the text and never removes the post, as we explain in can you edit a LinkedIn post after posting.
What about hiding a post from one specific person?
People often want a middle ground: post to their network but keep it from one individual, like a manager or a former colleague. LinkedIn does not offer that level of control. The audience picker is broad, Anyone or Connections only, not a per person allow list.
So your options are blunter than you might hope. You can narrow the audience for that one post, you can keep the sensitive thing off LinkedIn entirely, or you can block the specific person if the concern is serious. There is no quiet way to show a post to ninety-nine connections and hide it from the hundredth.
The practical takeaway is to decide what you are protecting. If it is genuinely private, LinkedIn is not the place to share it, because the platform is built to spread posts, not wall them off from one reader. If it is more about not wanting a specific person in your feed rather than keeping your own posts from them, Unfollow and Mute handle that far more cleanly than any per post trick would. Matching the tool to the actual worry saves a lot of frustration.
A quick note on privacy
The reassuring part of all this is that hiding is private. Hiding a post, unfollowing someone, muting them, none of it sends a notification or shows up on their end. You can shape your feed freely without any awkwardness, because the people involved simply never find out.
So to pull it together: to clean your feed, hide individual posts or unfollow the person behind them. To manage what you share, set the audience before you publish. And to remove your own post from view, deleting is the only real option, because a hidden-but-live post is not something LinkedIn actually offers.
Frequently asked questions
How do I hide a post from my LinkedIn feed?
Open the post in your feed, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select Hide post. The post disappears immediately and LinkedIn uses the signal to show you fewer posts like it. You can tap Undo right after if you hid it by mistake, and the poster is never told.
Can I hide my own posts on LinkedIn without deleting them?
Not really. LinkedIn has no button that keeps a published post live but hidden from everyone. Your realistic options are to delete it, or to edit who can see future posts by setting the audience before you publish. To pull a post out of view entirely, deleting is the only sure route.
Can I hide my LinkedIn posts from certain people?
You cannot block one specific connection from seeing a post you share to your network. The audience control is broad, such as Anyone or Connections only, not per person. If you want to keep something from one individual, the reliable options are to only share it with a narrower audience or to block that person.
Will someone know if I hide or unfollow their posts?
No. Hiding a post and unfollowing a person are both private actions. The other person receives no notification and cannot see that you did it. They stay a connection unless you also remove them, so hiding and unfollowing are quiet ways to clean up your feed without any social cost.

"How to hide posts on LinkedIn" turns out to mean three different things depending on who is asking. Some people want to clear one annoying post out of their feed. Some want to stop seeing a particular person entirely. And some want to hide their own post without deleting it. The steps are different for each, and one of them is not actually possible. Here is the honest version of all three.
Hide a single post from your feed
This is the most common one, and it takes two taps. When a post you would rather not see shows up, look for the three dots in the top right corner of that post. Tap them, then choose Hide post. The post disappears right away, and a small Undo option appears in case you hit it by accident.
Hiding is more than a one time cleanup. LinkedIn reads it as a signal and uses it to show you fewer posts like that one over time. If you keep hiding a certain kind of content, the feed slowly adjusts. This is the same mechanism behind the broader question of trimming your feed, which we go deeper on in how to hide suggested posts on LinkedIn.
Stop seeing everything from one person
Sometimes it is not one post, it is a person whose every update fills your feed. You do not have to remove them as a connection to get some quiet. Use Unfollow instead.
Go to their profile, or tap the three dots on one of their posts, and choose Unfollow. You stay connected, so you keep the relationship and can still message each other, but their posts stop appearing in your feed. They are never notified. If you want the difference between staying connected and cutting the tie entirely, it comes down to what a connection actually gives you, which we cover in the context of visibility and reach across the profile. Unfollowing is the gentlest tool here: it hides the posts without touching the connection.
If you want stronger separation, Mute (where available) and Block are the heavier options, with Block cutting off all interaction in both directions.
The steps are the same on mobile and desktop, with one small difference: on the app, the three dots sit in the top right corner of each post card, while on the web they are in the same spot but slightly larger. Either way, the Hide and Unfollow options live in that menu. There is no separate "hidden posts" folder to manage afterward, so once you hide something, it is simply gone from your view and you do not have to tidy up later.
